At Bank Statement Converter, accessible from https://statconverter.com, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document describes the types of information that is collected and recorded by Bank Statement Converter and how we use it.

This Privacy Policy applies only to our online activities and is valid for visitors to our website with regard to the information that they share and/or that we collect on Bank Statement Converter. This policy is not applicable to any information collected offline or via channels other than this website.

Consent

By using our website, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.

What we do not collect

This is the most important part of our privacy practices:

  • We do not receive, store, or transmit your bank statement PDFs. Conversion runs entirely in your web browser on your device.
  • We do not collect extracted transactions, balances, or exported files. That data never leaves your browser as part of the conversion process.
  • We do not maintain a database of your financial documents. There is nothing for us to delete after 24 hours — because we never had it.
  • We do not sell your financial data to third parties. We do not have it to sell.

Information we collect

We only collect personal information when you choose to create an account, sign in, subscribe to a paid plan, or contact us. The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, will be made clear to you at the point we ask for it.

Account information

When you register for an account, we may collect:

  • Email address (required for email/password sign-up)
  • Name (optional; may be provided if you sign in with Google)
  • Authentication identifiers (such as a hashed password or Google account ID)

This information is used to identify your account, enforce usage limits on free plans, authenticate you, and communicate service-related messages (such as password resets).

Subscription and billing information

If you purchase a Pro subscription, payment is processed by Paddle, our merchant of record and payment provider. Paddle collects and processes billing information such as your name, billing address, and payment card details according to Paddle’s Privacy Policy. We receive limited billing-related information from Paddle — such as your subscription status, plan type, and billing period — so we can grant and manage access to paid features. We do not store your full payment card number on our servers.

Usage information

If you have an account, we track how many conversions you have used against your plan limit (for example, five per month on the free plan). This is a simple counter tied to your account — not a copy of your statements or transaction data.

Communications

If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information such as your name, email address, the contents of your message, and any attachments you choose to send.

Anonymous usage

If you use the Service without an account, we may store a soft conversion count locally in your browser (via localStorage) to enforce the one free anonymous conversion. That count stays on your device and is not linked to an account unless you sign up.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our website and Service
  • Create and manage your account
  • Process subscriptions and payments (via Paddle)
  • Enforce plan limits and prevent abuse
  • Send service-related emails (such as password resets and billing receipts)
  • Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
  • Improve, personalize, and expand our website
  • Understand and analyze how you use our website (in aggregate)
  • Find and prevent fraud

Log files

Bank Statement Converter follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. The information collected by log files may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are typically not linked to personally identifiable information unless combined with account data you have provided. The purpose of this information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users’ movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember session state, and operate the Service. Essential cookies are required for authentication and account features. You can choose to disable cookies through your browser settings; however, some features of the Service (such as staying logged in) may not function properly without them.

Paddle and other third-party services we use may also set cookies when you interact with checkout or their embedded components. We do not control those cookies — please refer to the respective provider’s privacy policy.

Third-party service providers

We use trusted third parties to operate parts of the Service:

These providers receive only the information necessary to perform their function. None of them receive your bank statement files or extracted transaction data from the conversion process, because that data is never sent to us.

Data retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Because we do not store uploaded bank statements or conversion output, there is no document retention period to disclose — your financial files exist only on your device while you use the Service.

CCPA privacy rights (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)

Under the CCPA, among other rights, California consumers have the right to:

  • Request that a business that collects a consumer’s personal data disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data that a business has collected about consumers.
  • Request that a business delete any personal data about the consumer that a business has collected.
  • Request that a business that sells a consumer’s personal data not sell the consumer’s personal data.

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.

Bank Statement Converter does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
